Job summary

dsm-firmenich in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Quality Control Technician for 2nd shift. You will sampling, testing and documenting status of incoming raw materials and finished products, while supporting production and inventory control in the lab.

You will maintain MSDS, Kosher certifications, and certificates of analysis, ensure ISO and FSSC 22000 compliance, and help keep all quality records up to date. This role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork and process improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, or chemistry.
  • Good communication skills and basic PC knowledge (MS Word and MS Excel).
  • Ability to maintain documentation and adhere to ISO/FSSC standards.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented with organizational and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Sample and test raw materials; approve/reject results and report in writing.
  • Retest materials and communicate outcomes to Production and Purchasing.

Quality Control Tech-2nd Shift

Location: St. Louis, MO, US

We are currently seeking a Quality Control (QC) Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for sampling, testing, and documenting the status of all incoming raw materials and finished products. You will also support production processes, manage inventory of laboratory and related supplies, and ensure equipment is properly maintained.

Additionally, you will keep all documentation up to date, including specification sheets, Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS), Kosher certifications, and nutritional information for both raw materials and finished products.

Your key responsibilities
  • Sample and test raw materials and approve/reject based upon the results. If reject, let Production and Purchasing know immediately. Also, report the reject in writing to Purchasing.
  • Retest raw materials when needed and approve/reject based upon the results. If reject, let Production and Purchasing know immediately. Also, report the reject in writing to Purchasing.
  • Obtain and maintain Kosher certifications, specification sheets, MSDS, nutrient information, allergen claims for raw materials, and certificates of analysis when required by specifications.
  • Test potential suppliers’ samples of current raw materials and report results to Purchasing. Prepare and maintain raw material specification sheets. Ensure adherence to all management systems including, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and FSSC 22000, with an understanding of dsm-firmenich’s Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures. Responsible that these policies and procedures are implemented throughout the organization and all related activities under the position’s jurisdiction.
  • Test finished products and approve/reject based upon the results. If reject, determine if batch can be salvaged or not. If it can be salvaged, inform Production what can be done to salvage the batch. If it cannot be salvaged, inform Production how to dispose of the batch in writing.

You bring
  • A bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, or chemistry is required.
  • At the discretion of management, the degree requirement may be waived if there is sufficient knowledge and experience
  • Incumbent must possess good communication skills and basic PC knowledge (including MS Word and MS Excel
  • Must possess must possess good communication skills as well as excellent organizational, computer, and analytical skills.
  • Computer Proficiency in all MS Office Software Applications including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Self-motivated, self-starting team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive relations & act courteous/respectful of others.

The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Hourly range: 26.00-$27.00
