The Axel Group is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to oversee and manage quality control activities across a large-scale healthcare project in Atlanta, GA. This individual will be responsible for ensuring projects are constructed in accordance with contract documents, specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards.
The Quality Control Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners to identify potential quality issues, establish preventative measures, and ensure corrective actions are completed efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the project's overall QA/QC plan and quality procedures.
- Perform and coordinate inspections of construction work, especially critical containment and MEP systems.
- Make sure field work matches the approved drawings, specifications, and design requirements.
- Monitor the quality of construction involving walls, floors, ceilings, doors, penetrations, seals, and other components that contribute to containment.
- Oversee the quality of highly specialized mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and controls systems.
- Pay particular attention to systems responsible for maintaining required pressure relationships, filtration, and airflow.
- Ensure pipes, ducts, conduits, cables, and other penetrations through containment barriers and properly installed and sealed.
- Coordinate and track required testing, inspections, commissioning, and verification of critical systems.
- Make sure specialty subcontractors are following the project's quality requirements and approved installation procedures.
- Maintain detailed inspection reports, testing records, submittals, RFI's, deficiencies, corrective actions, and closeout documentation.
- Work closely with the Superintendent, Project Manager, MEP team, architects/engineers, commissioning team, inspectors, and specialty contractors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in construction quality control, project management, field supervision, or a related role.
- Experience with commercial, institutional, healthcare, government, or other complex construction projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, materials, and sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and civil drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, industry standards, and construction practices.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, inspections, testing, and documentation.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
