Job summary

The Shelly Company, a CRH company, is offering a Quality Control Intern role in Ohio to gain hands-on experience across materials testing and paving processes. You will learn HMA production, QC methods, and density control while supporting the QC team in test procedures and data reporting.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in Mining Eng, Construction Management, or related programs, with strong math and English-reading skills, and a willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and working toward an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Ability to read English sufficiently to read specifications, reports, manuals and regulations.
• Ability to perform intermediate math, including algebra, geometry, and shop math.
• Reasoning ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.

Responsibilities

• Gain understanding of HMA production processes and QC methods.
• Learn paving process, density control, and IRI reporting practices.
• Assist QC Technicians, conduct material tests, and calibrate equipment.
• Record data into laboratory and field systems and communicate results.
• Collaborate with paving personnel to ensure conformity to specifications.
