Job summary

Ferrara is seeking a QA Technician to inspect raw materials and packaging, monitor in-process inspections, and review finished goods documentation for release. You will maintain logs and support line operators with QA checks, calibrate lab equipment, and help uphold GMPs and safety standards across the plant.

The role requires overtime flexibility, knowledge of basic laboratory equipment, and proficiency with Excel/Access. Join a team focused on quality in a fast-paced confectionery environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Knowledge of operating basic laboratory equipment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Access).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and follow safety SOPs.
  • Fluent in English and able to read/interpret QA documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform raw material and packaging inspections and monitor in-process checks.
  • Review finished goods documentation for release criteria.
  • Maintain logs and data records (non-conforming materials, corrective actions, hold logs).
  • Calibrate lab equipment (pH meter, moisture analyzers, refractometer, scales) per ICP.
  • Audit GMPs and ensure compliance with safety rules across the plant.
  • Support line operators and provide training on process checks.

The QA Technician’s primary responsibilities will include raw material and packaging inspections,monitoringof in-processinspectionsand finished goods documentation review. Responsibilities will also includemaintaininglogs and data records associated with job function (e.g.non-conforming materials, corrective actionlog, hold logs, net content files, etc.)

Ways you will make a difference
  • Execute required tests on incoming ingredients and packaging according to Quality Monitor Scheme (QMS)
  • Perform verification on finished goods documentation to ensure that each finish good lot meets positive release criteria
  • Support training for line operators to ensure process checks are accurate and timely as stated in QMS
  • Retain finished good samples and set up sensory panel daily
  • Hold “Out of Specification” material
  • Communicate with Supervisors
  • Utilize ASI to obtain net content information to release finished goods as well as assist operators with the use of ASI Stations
  • Calibrate lab equipment including PH meter, moisture analyzers, refractometer, scales, etc. according to Internal Control Plan (ICP)
  • Audit GMPs, throughout the plant and follow safety rules and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
  • Overtime and/or cover shifts as required

  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Must have knowledge of operating basic laboratory equipment
  • Promotes teamwork, possess a good attitude, and exhibit flexibility and willingness to perform tasks as needed
  • Spreadsheet and database Knowledge (excel and access)
  • Understands and is accountable for full compliance with safety, quality and other relevant requirements
  • Ensures compliance with BRC, SQF, and other relevant standards
Experiences that will support your success
  • Required knowledge of food processing and food safety; food or pharmaceutical industry experience; 1 – 3 years minimum in food or pharmaceutical industries in QA/QC
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to speak, write and read English

Compensation

$27.00 per hour plus a .58 cent per hour shift differential.
