Job summary

Ferrara is seeking a QA Technician for a 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:00 PM, Monday–Friday with overtime as needed) to inspect raw materials and packaging, monitor in-process inspections, and review finished goods documentation.

Responsibilities include logging data, supporting line operators, retaining samples, and verifying release criteria. Proficiency with basic lab equipment, Excel/Access, and adherence to GMPs is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in food processing and food safety; 1–3 years in QA/QC.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to speak, write and read English.

Responsibilities

• Execute tests on incoming ingredients and packaging according to QMS.
• Verify finished goods documentation meets release criteria.
• Support line operator training for process checks per QMS.
• Retain finished good samples and set up daily sensory panel.
• Hold out of specification material.
• Communicate with Supervisors.
• Use ASI to obtain net content information to release finished goods and assist operators.
• Calibrate lab equipment per ICP.
• Audit GMPs and follow safety rules.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

The QA Technician’s primary responsibilities will include raw material and packaging inspections, monitoring of in-process inspections and finished goods documentation review. Responsibilities will also include maintaining logs and data records associated with job function (e.g. non-conforming materials, corrective action log, hold logs, net content files, etc.)

Ways you will make a difference

• Execute required tests on incoming ingredients and packaging according to Quality Monitor Scheme (QMS)
• Perform verification on finished goods documentation to ensure that each finish good lot meets positive release criteria
• Support training for line operators to ensure process checks are accurate and timely as stated in QMS
• Retain finished good samples and set up sensory panel daily
• Hold “Out of Specification” material
• Communicate with Supervisors
• Utilize ASI to obtain net content information to release finished goods as well as assist operators with the use of ASI Stations
• Calibrate lab equipment including PH meter, moisture analyzers, refractometer, scales, etc. according to Internal Control Plan (ICP)
• Audit GMPs, throughout the plant and follow safety rules and procedures
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Experiences that will support your success

• Required knowledge of food processing and food safety; food or pharmaceutical industry experience; 1 – 3 years minimum in food or pharmaceutical industries in QA/QC
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to speak, write and read English

Compensation

$27.00 per hour plus a .39 cent per hour shift differential.
