Job summary

White Castle is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor at the Louisville Plant to support the Quality Manager in ensuring products meet USDA and FDA specs. You’ll supervise Quality Team Members, guide GMP, HACCP, SQF programs, and train staff on quality and food safety.

The ideal candidate has a degree in Food Science or related field, 3–5 years in production methods and root cause analysis, and strong knowledge of regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field required; or an Associate’s degree with related knowledge.
• Strong management and interpersonal skills, including leadership ability.
• 3–5 years’ experience in production methods and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of SQF, FDA, USDA regulations; HACCP, SOPs, GMPs.
• Familiarity with lab equipment and quality testing tools.
• Proficient Word, Excel; good communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Selection, supervision, training, and guidance of Quality Team Members.
• Development and supervision of policies relating to food safety and quality (GMP, HACCP, SSOP, SQF).
• Conduct pre-operational and operational facility inspections and solve identified problems.
• Perform raw material and finished product inspections and analyses; train others to do so.
• Maintain inventory of quality, sanitation, safety, and production supplies.
• Communicate professionally with customers and all levels of the organization; adapt to plant needs.

The WCD Louisville Plant is looking to fill an opening for a Quality Assurance Supervisor. This position is to assist and support the Quality Manager in various Quality areas. Monitor the condition of raw materials before and during production and finished products after they are manufactured to ensure they meet White Castle USDA and FDA specifications. This position will be responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Control Program to ensure finished products meet specifications. Incumbent will give guidance, direction, and training to all Team Members with regard to quality, food safety, HACCP, Food Defense, SQF, and GMP requirements.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or related field required; or an Associate’s degree in one of these fields combined with general knowledge of statistical process, bacterial control, and sanitation methods is required;
• Strong management and interpersonal skills are required, including the ability to effectively lead teams and maintain positive employee relations;
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in production methods and root cause analysis is required;
• Must have strong knowledge of SQF, FDA, and USDA Regulations and Directives, HACCP, SOP’s, and GMP’s;
• Functional knowledge of how all equipment in the quality lab is designed to operate; includes Electronic Scale, Electronic Temperature Probe, High Pressure Washer, Temperature Recorders and Bioluminescence;
• Proficient computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
• Strong skills in employee relations, communication, and teamwork, including the ability to give and receive direction and to follow detailed instructions;
• Ability to stay focused and accomplish multiple tasks independently with little supervision and within established timeframes;
• Self-starter and able to anticipate work requirements;
• Possess excellent management & decision-making skills; and
• Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training.

What you will do

• Selection, supervision, training, and guidance of Quality Team Members;
• Coordination, development, and supervision of policies and procedures relating to food safety and quality including: GMP’s, HACCP, SSOP’s, SQF and other programs relating to food quality and safety;
• Perform pre-operational and operational facility inspections to identify problems and offer practical solutions to those problems;
• Perform raw material and finished product inspections and analyses. Train Quality Team Members to perform these functions;
• Maintain and procure inventory of quality, sanitation, safety, and production supplies.
• Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to the teams’ needs; and
• Must be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in an environment with occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, and other elements;
• Wearing safety gear including safety glasses and other various types of safety gear supplied by the company;
• Frequent periods of standing, sitting, and walking;
• Frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting 75 lbs.(unassisted/assisted); and
• Ability to listen, comprehend, and professionally respond to co-worker inquiries, comments, and concerns.
