Job summary

White Castle is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor at the Vandalia plant to support the Quality Manager in QA areas. You’ll monitor raw materials, during production, and finished products to ensure USDA/FDA specs are met, while guiding the QA team in food safety, HACCP, SQF, and GMP requirements.

You will oversee training, policy development, and routine inspections, ensuring timely, compliant quality across all stages of production."

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in food science, biology, microbiology, or equivalent.
• 3–5 years in production methods and root cause analysis preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SQF, FDA, USDA regulations, HACCP, SOPs, and GMPs.

Responsibilities

• Select, supervise, train, and guide Quality Team Members.
• Develop and supervise policies on food safety and quality (GMPs, HACCP, SSOPs, SQF).
• Perform pre-op and in-service inspections and analyses of materials and products.
• Maintain inventory of quality, sanitation, safety, and production supplies.
• Communicate with customers and all levels of the organization professionally.

The WCD Vandalia Plant is looking to fill an opening for a Quality Assurance Supervisor. This position is to assist and support the Quality Manager in various Quality areas.Monitor the condition of raw materials before and during production and finished products after they are manufactured to ensure they meet White Castle USDA and FDA specifications.This position will be responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Control Program to ensure finished products meet specifications. Incumbent will give guidance, direction, and training to all Team Members with regard to quality, food safety, HACCP, Food Defense, SQF, and GMP requirements.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in food science, Biology, Microbiology, or equivalent work experience is preferred;
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in production methods and root cause analysis preferred; and[A1]
• Must have strong knowledge of SQF, FDA, and USDA Regulations and Directives, HACCP, SOP’s, and GMP’s;
• Functional knowledge of how all equipment in the quality lab is designed to operate; includes Electronic Scale, Electronic Temperature Probe, High Pressure Washer, Temperature Recorders and Bioluminescence;
• Proficient computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
• Strong skills in employee relations, communication, and teamwork, including the ability to give and receive direction and to follow detailed instructions;
• Ability to stay focused and accomplish multiple tasks independently with little supervision and within established timeframes;
• Self-starter and able to anticipate work requirements;
• Possess excellent management & decision-making skills; and
• Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training.

What you will do

• Selection, supervision, training, and guidance of Quality Team Members;
• Coordination, development, and supervision of policies and procedures relating to food safety and quality including: GMP’s, HACCP, SSOP’s, SQF and other programs relating to food quality and safety;
• Perform pre-operational and operational facility inspections to identify problems and offer practical solutions to those problems;
• Perform raw material and finished product inspections and analyses.Train Quality Team Members to perform these functions;
• Maintain and procure inventory of quality, sanitation, safety, and production supplies.
• Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to the teams’ needs;
• Must be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in an environment with occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, and other elements;
• Wearing safety gear including safety glasses and other various types of safety gear supplied by the company;
• Frequent periods of standing, sitting, and walking;
• Frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting 75 lbs.(unassisted/assisted);
• Ability to listen, comprehend, and professionally respond to co-worker inquiries, comments, and concerns.
