Job summary

White Castle is seeking an Operations Supervisor for bakery production in Cincinnati, OH. You will supervise bun production, train staff on safety and GMP, and ensure efficient, compliant operations while coordinating production and inventories.

The role requires at least 2 years of supervisory experience, baking industry knowledge, and strong safety leadership. This on-site position offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years’ supervisory experience, preferably in White Castle.
  • Experience in baking industry preferred.
  • Supervise bun production for quality and cost efficiency.
  • Train and develop production personnel on safety and GMP.
  • Supervise Assistant Operations Supervisors.
  • Coordinate plant production to meet orders and maintain inventories.
  • Act as Safety Coordinator; OSHA compliant.
  • Lead safety meetings and monthly inspections.
  • Maintain OSHA training files.
  • Maintain inventory of produced product and raw materials.
  • Prepare safety inspections, appraisals, corrective actions.
  • Read PH & Color meters and thermometers.
  • Operate forklift.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and professional communication.
  • Flexible to work hours including shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for production operations of the Bakery. The duties include, but are not limited to, human relations, production, safety, scheduling (production and people), training and developing of team members and direct reports. The role is required to fill in for the position of Bakery Plant Manager during the Plant Manager’s absence. The incumbent is expected to uphold and demonstrate the Company’s Core Values. This position description does not contain a comprehensive list of required duties and responsibilities. The Operations Supervisor is expected to perform related duties assigned by management, which may be added, revised, or eliminated based on business and operational needs, with or without advance notice.

What we are looking for
  • High School Diploma or GED required;

  • At least 2 years’ supervisory experience with some having been within the White Castle system preferred;

  • Previous training and experience in the baking industry obtained through education or experience is preferred;

  • Supervise bun production to ensure that quality White Castle buns are produced and packaged in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible;

  • Training and development of production personnel regarding their essential functions, safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices;

  • Supervision of Assistant Operations Supervisors to ensure that goals and objectives are met;

  • Coordinate plant production requirements to complete orders and to maintain proper freezer inventories;

  • Act as Safety Coordinator ensuring that facility, equipment, and team members are trained properly and OSHA compliant;

  • Perform plant wide safety meetings, and coordinate monthly safety inspections;

  • Maintain OSHA required safety training files and training schedules for all team members;

  • Maintain inventory control over produced product and raw materials;

  • Prepare various documents, safety inspections, performance appraisals, and assist with corrective actions, and complete various reports;

  • Skillful at reading PH & Color meters and thermometers;

  • Capability to operate a forklift;

  • Ensure adherence to plant’s security and safety policies and procedures, and a safe working environment for all Team Members;

  • Communicate effectively with customers and all levels of the organization in a professional manner, display a positive demeanor and be responsive to team members’ needs; and

  • Must be flexible to work hours to meet the needs of the plant, including any shift, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Your day-to-day:
  • Good interpersonal and human relations skills with ability to maintain a positive professional demeanor accepting responsibility and demonstrating a willingness to learn;

  • Knowledge, training, and experience with production, sanitation, quality, and safety;

  • Possess the aptitude to select, train, develop and motivate staff and teams;

  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively give clear instructions to direct and motivate team members;

  • Possess knowledge of OSHA 10 or the ability to complete the compliance class;

  • Good employee relation skills, be team oriented and work well with others, give, and receive direction, and follow clear and detailed instructions;

  • Acquire knowledge through training and coach and train others on equipment procedures and workplace health & safety procedures;

  • Proficiency in making decisions concerning personnel problems, production, sanitation, and shipping;

  • Efficiently work and respond in a fast-paced environment to meet operational demands;

  • Possess capability to stay focused and accomplish multiple tasks independently with little supervision and within established timeframes;

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and be able to make on the spot decisions to keep equipment running;

  • Strong knowledge of food safety principles including SQF required;

  • Good understanding of HACCP, SSOP, GMPs, and knowledge of FDA regulations;

  • Proficient computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and warehouse management software (ERP/WMS);

  • Aptitude to complete AIB course and AIB Principles in Baking;

  • Proficient in how each piece of equipment operates and be able to function efficiently in any of the production line positions which is acquired through observation and hands-on experience;

  • Possess good math skills, and knowledge of inventory procedures, team member time keeping systems and scheduling are required, either through education, training, and/or experience; and

  • Ability to successfully complete on-the-job training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Physical effort and lifting required, particularly when shorthanded and assisting various teams within the bakery;

  • Ability to work in an environment with occasional exposure to noise, heat, cold, fumes, smoke, cleaners, and other elements;

  • Capability to wear safety gear including safety glasses, and other various types of safety gear supplied by the company;

  • Frequent periods of standing, sitting, and walking; and

  • Ability to hear, comprehend, and professionally respond to co-worker inquiries, comments, and concerns.

Pay Rate: Starting at $94,271.32 / year
