Job summary

Giannella Modern Bakery in Paterson, NJ seeks a Quality Assurance Technician / Coordinator to support SQF, HACCP, GMPs, and regulatory compliance in a wholesale bakery environment.

Open to candidates with varying levels of experience; the role focuses on maintaining food safety records, verifying product quality, and assisting with audits and corrective actions. Six-day workweek with 8–10 hour shifts; overtime as needed.

• Familiarity with SQF, HACCP, GMPs, allergen management, and food safety documentation is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of SQF food safety and quality programs.
• Maintain accurate food safety records, quality documentation, production logs, and inspection reports.
• Conduct GMP inspections and production-floor quality assessments.
• Monitor finished-product quality, including product weight, dimensions, appearance, texture, color, and bake consistency.
• Verify ingredient identification, allergen controls, packaging, labeling, lot identification, and date coding.
• Perform pre-operational inspections and sanitation verification in coordination with production and sanitation teams.
• Identify, document, and communicate quality deviations and assist with corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist with product traceability, mock recalls, customer complaint investigations, and audit preparation.
• Communicate food safety and quality concerns promptly to the appropriate personnel.
• Help ensure established procedures, product specifications, and food safety requirements are followed throughout production.
• Work with production, sanitation, warehouse, and management to maintain product quality and safety standards.
