Job summary

Tundra Technical Solutions in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a QE Senior Test Automation Architect for an on-site contract (about 1 month 22 days). The role focuses on test automation strategy, framework architecture, and quality engineering leadership.

You will drive CI/CD integration, govern enterprise automation, mentor QA teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure release quality and shift-left practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in Quality Engineering and Test Automation.
• 4+ years in a Test Automation Architect or Lead role.
• Design and implement enterprise-scale automation frameworks using Robot Framework, Selenium, and API automation tools.
• Strong programming experience in Python and/or Java for test framework development.
• Deep expertise in API testing, contract validation, service virtualization, and microservices testing.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure ecosystem, Azure DevOps, Cosmos DB, and cloud-native architectures.
• Proven experience in database validation and data quality testing using SQL Server and NoSQL databases.
• Experience driving automation strategies across Agile, DevOps, and Continuous Testing environments.
• Expertise in test management, quality metrics, and release governance using Azure DevOps (ADO).
• Strong understanding of CI/CD implementation using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the enterprise automation testing strategy aligned with organizational quality objectives.
• Architect, design, and govern scalable, reusable, and maintainable automation frameworks across UI, API, database, and integration layers.
• Establish automation standards, best practices, coding guidelines, and quality engineering processes across teams.
• Evaluate and recommend automation tools, frameworks, and emerging technologies to improve quality and delivery efficiency.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, Product Owners, Development Leads, DevOps Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to ensure testability of applications.
• Lead automation efforts for cloud-native, microservices, and distributed system architectures.
• Design and implement test automation within CI/CD pipelines to enable Continuous Testing and Shift‑Left quality practices.
• Perform architecture reviews and provide guidance on application quality, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Mentor and coach QA engineers and automation teams on framework design, coding standards, and automation best practices.
• Define key quality metrics, automation KPIs, and reporting dashboards to measure testing effectiveness and release readiness.
• Drive root‑cause analysis for production issues and implement preventive quality measures.
• Participate in Agile planning, release management, risk assessment, and quality governance activities.

Senior Test Automation Architect with focus on test automation strategy, framework architecture, quality engineering leadership, CI/CD integration, and enterprise-level test governance.

Primary Skills

• Strong expertise in API technologies including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, OAuth, and service virtualization.
• Experience designing automation frameworks using Page Object Model (POM), BDD, Data-Driven, Hybrid, and Modular approaches.
• Hands‑on experience integrating automation suites with CI/CD platforms including Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and GitLab.
• Strong understanding of software architecture patterns, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
• Experience with Azure Cloud services, Cosmos DB, SQL Server, and database automation strategies.
• Exposure to containerized environments using Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift.
• Familiarity with performance engineering, observability tools, log analytics, and monitoring platforms.
• Experience implementing AI-assisted testing, self‑healing automation, and intelligent test optimization solutions.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $36.98/hour - $57.79/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
