Job summary

Stanford Blood Center in Palo Alto is seeking a Laboratory Technician Level I to prepare clinical specimens for testing, accession samples and process them per lab protocols. You will set up automated instruments, perform instrument maintenance and assist in validating systems.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to work with computer systems for specimen tracking, and experience with laboratory instruments. This is a full-time, on-site position at the Stanford Blood Center facility.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or GED; 2 years college biology preferred.
• 1 year of relevant laboratory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare clinical samples and products for testing following lab protocols.
• Set up and maintain automated instruments and troubleshoot as needed.
• Document and transcribe quality control measures including environmental readings and equipment checks.
• Train back-up staff as necessary.
• Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving and stocking supplies.
