Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Quality Laboratory Technician to join our team located in Memphis, TN. This position will perform laboratory tests from samples in the field to produce reliable and precise data.

• This position works a rotating 12-hour shift: 8 days on, 6 days off, 8 nights on, 6 off, etc.

Our Team

The Georgia-Pacific Memphis, TN facility is one of the most diverse cotton cellulose producers in the market. The Memphis Mill manufactures various grades of specialty pulp used in LED displays, coatings, plastics, currency papers, construction, pharmaceuticals, food additives, thickeners, and filter applications.

What You Will Do

• Perform calculations and enter test results into spreadsheets/databases, verifying results
• Report laboratory results to team members and appropriate persons
• Understand and apply Site Safe Work Practices
• Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair routine equipment issues with mechanical aptitude
• Follow defined procedures in mill or laboratory environments
• Carry up to 50 pounds and work in industrial environments, including climbing stairs to reach sample locations, exposed to noise, heat, cold, humidity, and weather conditions
• Work a rotating 12-hour day/night schedule, at least 40 hours per week

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience working in a laboratory or quality experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of general and organic chemistries and basic instrumentation used in a chemistry laboratory

What Will Put You Ahead

• Associate/technical degree in Biology, Chemistry, or science field
• Experience with quality control
• Experience with ISO standards
• Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
