Job summary

Hyperbound is hiring a QA engineer to own quality for new features, write test plans, run acceptance testing, and build automation. You will partner with Product, Engineering, and Solutions Engineers to catch issues early and improve testing as the product scales.

You will lead testing across weekly releases, design robust test strategies, and advocate for high standards in a fast-moving startup environment in San Francisco. This role emphasizes ownership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software quality engineering experience testing modern web applications or SaaS products.
• Ability to independently design and execute test strategies and define coverage.
• Experience building and maintaining automated test suites using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of API testing and validating interactions between frontend, backend, and third-party systems.
• Ability to investigate complex bugs using browser dev tools, logs, and API requests; document findings clearly.
• Experience writing clear, actionable bug reports and communicating quality risks to engineers and product stakeholders.
• Working understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests fit into development and release workflows.
• Strong product judgment: understanding how customers use a product and prioritizing testing based on risk and impact.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, releases, and customer issues in a fast-moving environment.
• High ownership and comfort operating with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Test planning: define coverage with Product and Engineering before features ship.
• Release testing: functional, exploratory, UAT, and regression testing across workflows.
• Technical investigation: use dev tools, logs, and signals to isolate issues and provide actionable findings.
• Automation: build and maintain reliable automated tests for critical workflows.
• Customer bugs: reproduce issues with Solutions Engineers and drive fixes through verification.
• Regression prevention: add automated checks and expand coverage to prevent recurring issues.
• Process improvement: strengthen testing standards and tooling to fit Hyperbound’s fast release cycle.
