Job summary

Penske Truck Leasing is seeking a QA Automation Test Engineer to join our Digital Products team in Reading, PA. The role focuses on building and maintaining automated testing solutions within a SaaS, product-driven environment.

You’ll work with Product Managers and Engineers to embed quality early in development and enable continuous delivery. You will design automated test frameworks for UI, API, and integration layers, implement CI/CD pipelines, and ensure high system uptime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of experience in QA automation, software quality engineering, or SDET roles within digital, SaaS, or platform‑based environments.
• Strong experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks across UI, API, and integration layers.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language used for test automation (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python).
• Experience with modern test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, REST Assured, or similar).
• Hands‑on experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps) to support continuous delivery.
• Solid understanding of Agile development practices and experience working within cross‑functional product teams.
• Demonstrated ability to apply a shift‑left testing approach, contributing to quality early in the development lifecycle.
• Experience partnering with Product Managers and Engineers to define acceptance criteria and ensure testability of features.
• Strong understanding of quality as a shared responsibility within a modern Product Operating Model.
• Experience testing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems, including integrations and data flows.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based architectures and SaaS platforms, with an understanding of scalability, reliability, and uptime considerations.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to drive long‑term solutions and continuous improvement.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, product, and platform teams.
• Experience with performance or load testing tools, containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), or test data management practices is a plus.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts across UI, API, and integration layers
• Ensure comprehensive test coverage for new features and enhancements in web, mobile, and platform environments
• Continuously improve automation strategies to increase speed, reliability, and scalability of testing
• Act as a core member of an Agile product team, partnering with Product Managers and Engineers to define acceptance criteria and quality standards
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment
• Enable rapid feedback loops by ensuring tests run efficiently and reliably across environments
• Support release readiness by validating system stability, performance, and scalability
• Defect prevention & root cause analysis to reduce recurring issues and improve system stability
