Job Summary
Our client, a leading convenience retail and store technology provider, is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to join their team. This is a contract opportunity supporting the modernization of a cloud-based Store Technology/RIS2.0 platform. The ideal candidate will have strong experience building QA automation frameworks from the ground up across Android, web, API, and performance/load testing environments.

Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks for Android, web, API, and performance/load testing
- Develop and execute Android automation using Appium and UIAutomator2, including device performance testing and application profiling
- Perform web and API automation using tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Karate, or REST Assured
- Conduct API performance and load testing using JMeter, Gatling, k6, or comparable frameworks, analyzing throughput, latency, reliability, and resource utilization
- Define and execute test strategies, test plans, test cases, acceptance criteria, and risk-based quality approaches across functional and non-functional requirements
- Integrate automated testing into Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines while maintaining clear quality reporting and collaborating with Engineering, Product, Support, and Customer Success teams to identify and resolve defects
- Validate device capabilities and reliability, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, barcode scanning, offline behavior, and intermittent network conditions
Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
- 6+ years of professional QA automation experience, including building and maintaining automation frameworks from the ground up
- 1+ years of hands-on testing experience with MongoDB, Node.js, and AWS services
- Hands-on Android application automation experience with Appium and UIAutomator2
- Experience with Android performance testing and profiling using Android Studio Profiler, ADB, Perfetto, or equivalent tools
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript, Java, or a comparable programming language
- Hands-on experience with API automation and performance/load testing using tools such as Karate, REST Assured, JMeter, Gatling, or k6
- Experience defining and reviewing test plans, test cases, acceptance criteria, and risk-based quality strategies
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
- Hands-on MongoDB testing experience, including query validation, schema/index verification, data migration, transaction consistency, and performance analysis
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot for automation development, refactoring, test generation, debugging, and documentation
- Experience with test-data management, synthetic data generation, data masking/anonymization, and repeatable environment-specific datasets
- Experience with API mocking and service virtualization using WireMock, MockServer, Mockito, or similar tools
- Experience testing event-driven and asynchronous integrations, including message queues, retries, timeouts, failure scenarios, and eventual consistency
- Experience with AWS cloud-native services such as S3, Kinesis, AWS IoT Core, Lambda, Step Functions, and CloudWatch, particularly for high-volume data processing and resiliency testing
- Experience with observability platforms, cloud telemetry, network troubleshooting, proxy/latency simulation, and testing mobile/web applications under varying network conditions

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $42.00 and $61.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
