Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) seeks an Associate Engineer in Elko to lead Independent Assurance QA activities, train and certify field testing staff, and manage audit reports and on-site inspections. The role requires licensure or progression toward licensure, extensive travel across Nevada, and on-site work with no remote option.

Candidate must obtain NAQTC and ACI certifications in the first year and be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
• Engineer Intern certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; OR two years of journey-level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III.
• Education or experience alignment with licensure requirements as described in the job posting.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning, design, analysis and inspection of construction and maintenance of transportation systems.
• Design and analyze traffic systems including signals, lighting, striping, and support structures.
• Review and oversee inspections, and prepare final inspection reports with required documentation.
