Job summary

Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) in Elko, NV seeks a Staff 1, Associate Engineer for the Construction Division Independent Assurance (IA) Lab. The role includes quality assurance program management, on-site QA audits, and certifying field testing personnel.

Travel up to 50% statewide and mandatory NAQTC and ACI certification within the first year. The position requires work in varied shifts and climates; on-site work only with no remote option.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field.
• Engineer Intern certification or NSP ... (if applicable)
• Two years journey level experience equivalent to Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze traffic systems including traffic signal systems and highway lighting.
• Develop pavement structural sections and rehabilitation strategies for roadways.
• Perform on-site highway construction inspections to ensure specifications are met.
• Review environmental reports and permit requirements for compliance.
• Identify and inspect bridges and maintain inspection reports.
• Assist in planning, design, analysis, and inspection of transportation projects.
• Work under supervision to gain licensure or operate with general supervision on non-licensure tasks.
