Job summary

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is hiring a Staff 2, Associate Engineer in Elko, NV as an underfill for a Professional Engineer. The role involves managing district projects and collaborating with the crew manager, traffic engineer, and stakeholders.

Incumbents work with NDOT divisions, contractors, and government agencies to ensure projects meet schedules, budgets, and regulatory requirements. This is an on-site position with no remote work option.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related field.
• Engineer Intern certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
• Two years of professional civil engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning, design, analysis and inspection of transportation and highway projects.
• Design and analyze traffic systems, including signals, lighting, markings, and sign supports.
• Prepare and review technical documents; ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors and NDOT divisions to achieve project outcomes.
• Oversee inspections and review inspection reports for quality and safety.
• Assist in licensure progress or advanced engineering duties as applicable.
