Job summary

RTX in Bridgeport, WV, seeks an Operations Supervisor at the Engine Center to lead the team on the 1st shift (Mon-Thu 5:30am-3:30pm). You will ensure training completeness, maintain records, and liaise with P&W and customers while overseeing EH&S/QUALITY activities.

This FAA-regulated, safety-sensitive role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to problem solving. Onsite work and travel up to 10% may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing, OEM, MRO, or other highly regulated environment, OR an Associate’s degree with minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, OR, in lieu of a post high school degree a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Assist subordinates in solving unusual problems such as scheduling, interpreting instructions, drawings, and service bulletins; review subordinates' recommendations and approve or offer alternatives.
• Plan and lead employee engagement actions for the department; coach and mentor staff to ensure growth.
• On occasion supervise other areas of the shop during peers’ absences.
• Demonstrate leadership and effective communication with all management levels; motivate and empower coworkers.
• Lead in fostering teamwork and a can-do attitude under pressure.
• Proficient with MS Office and SAP to support daily operations.

What You Will Do:

We have an Operations Supervisor role open at our Engine Center in Bridgeport, WV. The Operations Supervisor will assist employees to ensure they are properly trained for their assignments and training records are updated. They are responsible for all EH&S/CORE/Quality/ITC activities and will perform a variety of technical duties and administrative duties in support of Line Manager whilst serving as the liaison with P&W and Customers. This position will work on our 1st shift, which is Monday-Thursday from 5:30am-3:30pm.

Pratt & Whitney in Bridgeport, WV is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist subordinates in solving unusual problems such as scheduling, interpreting complicated instructions, specification, drawings, service bulletins, engineering changes, use of new and specialized equipment/tooling and reviewing work. Review recommendations of subordinates and approve or offer alternative solutions.
• Plan and carry out employee engagement action items for the department (as applicable). Take a lead in regard to coaching and mentoring employees to ensure their personal and professional successes are realized.
• At times may be responsible for the supervision of other areas of the shop during the absence of peer supervisors.
• Successful candidate must possess proven leadership, interpersonal, customer relation skills and the ability to create an atmosphere of teamwork. Must be self-motivated, and high-energy with the initiative to direct and lead. Possess strong communication skills and a proven ability to communicate with all levels of management.
• Proven leadership using motivation and empowerment to instill cooperation and respect from his/her coworkers.
• Experience with MS Office and SAP.

This role is:

• Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
