Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in the United States (North Berwick, ME) seeks an onsite operations leader to drive performance in one or more Business Unit Cells. You will apply CORE and Lean methods to improve quality, throughput and delivery while guiding a multi-skilled team in jet engine component manufacture and repair.

You will ensure training, safety, and policy adherence across shifts, conduct regular performance reviews, and support government contracting and FAA procedures as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in engineering/manufacturing/continuous improvement; or an Associate's with 7+ years; or a HS diploma with 9+ years in a similar environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of shop practices, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to a fluctuating work environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to one or more Business Unit Cells; set day-to-day goals for team members.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for providing leadership to one or more Business Unit Cells; set day-to-day goals and objectives for team members.
  • Apply CORE (Customer Oriented Results and Excellence), Lean and other continuous improvement techniques to develop and implement process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing quality, throughput and delivery integrity.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to multi-skilled group of team members engaged in the manufacture and repair of jet engine components.
  • Ensure employees are adequately trained and work in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
  • Execute business decisions fairly, conduct annual performance reviews, hold regular toolbox meetings, provide two-way communications, consistent application of policy/work rules, clear, consistent communication of organizational goals and objectives.
  • Able to bridge business objectives across (3) operating shifts and be available for shift overlap
  • Support all legal obligations such as United States Government contracting and Administration of FAA policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for making modifications in systems and processes to solve problems or improve the effectiveness of the work area.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelors degree and minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, continuous improvement or similar environment OR an Associate's degree and 7 or more years experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, continuous improvement or similar environment
  • In absence of a degree, High School diploma/GED or equivalent and 9 or more years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, continuous improvement or similar environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Working knowledge of shop practices, processes and procedures
  • Experience working in a fluctuating work environment with constantly shifting priorities

  • Demonstrated skill and success in team leadership, facilitation & coaching skills
  • SAP and SOLUMINA experience

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
