Job summary

MasTec is seeking a Commissioning Technician I to join our field team performing mechanical and electrical inspections on utility PV power plants. You will document inspections, observations and test results and support troubleshooting activities with the Commissioning CM/GF.

Responsibilities include assisting with inspection and testing to contract specifications, completing commissioning documentation, following safety procedures, and taking the lead on commissioning tasks with minimal

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Classroom education or training in photovoltaic systems preferred.
• Photovoltaic installation experience.
• Three years of electrical experience in the Industrial sector or related to renewables, or two years as MasTec Commissioning Tech I.
• OSHA 10-hour, First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E certifications preferred.
• Ability to take lead in commissioning tasks with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the inspection and testing of PV plants to specifications and contract documents.
• Complete all commissioning documentation during inspection.
• Document all outstanding issues and deliver documentation for review by the General Foreman and Commissioning Manager.
• Perform LOTO duties as outlined by the company and site‑specific policies.
• Perform field test data entry as needed.
• Perform final visual and mechanical inspections on equipment before energization date.
• Support third‑party testing and inspections (Transformers, MV audits, MV cable tests, etc.).
• Ensure proper use of PPE and conformity to safety procedures by all employees.
• Keep testing equipment clean and orderly; ensure calibration is up to date.
• Report missing/broken tools and low consumables to CM/GF.
• Care for and maintain issued PPE per specs.
• Lead other techs to ensure quality and safety compliance.
