Job summary

MasTec is seeking a field Commissioning Inspector to perform mechanical and electrical inspections on utility PV power plants. You will document inspections, observations, and test results, and communicate findings with the Commissioning CM/GF.

The role requires experience in PV systems, reading electrical diagrams, and leading commissioning tasks with safety as a priority. You will work on-site, perform LO TO, and coordinate with third‑party testers.

Qualifications

• Take reasonable care for health and safety, supporting MasTec Zero Injury principles.
• Ability to read and understand electrical single and three-line diagrams.
• Ability to use a multi-meter/Commissioning test equipment (e.g., meters, insulation resistance tooling, DET 2/3, Solmetric/Seaward testing units).
• Understand electrical theory and base troubleshooting methods.
• Common sense to follow written or oral instructions, and work within precise standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the inspection and testing of PV plants to specifications and contract documents.
• Complete all commissioning documentation during inspection.
• Document all outstanding issues and deliver all documentation for review by the General Foreman and Commissioning Manager.
• Perform LOTO duties as outlined by the company and site policies.
• Perform field test data entry as needed.
• Perform final visual and mechanical inspections on equipment before energization date.
• Support third-party testing and inspections (Transformers, MV audits, MV cable tests, etc.).
• Ensure proper use of PPE and conformity to safety procedures by all employees.
• Keep testing equipment clean and orderly; ensure calibration is up to date.
• Report missing or broken tools to CM/GF and notify CM/GF when consumables are low.
• Care for and maintain issued PPE per manufacturer’s specs.
• Lead other Techs to ensure quality and safety compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.
