Position: We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing the procurement process for lumber and related supplies. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery of products while maintaining cost-efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing, excellent negotiation skills, and a keen understanding of the lumber industry.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure the best deals.
  • Procurement Planning: Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet the company’s needs for lumber and building materials. Analyze market trends and adjust procurement plans accordingly.
  • Order Management: Place orders, monitor inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of products. Manage and resolve any issues related to order fulfillment and quality.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and analyze purchasing costs. Develop strategies to reduce expenses and improve cost-efficiency while maintaining product quality.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure optimal stock levels. Assist in forecasting demand and adjusting procurement schedules as needed.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information. Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, costs, and performance metrics.
  • Compliance: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and legal regulations. Stay updated on industry standards and best practices.

Should You Apply?

  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Specialist or in a similar role or similar industry.
  • Ability to multitask with a keen eye for details.
