Job summary

Metallus in Ohio is seeking a purchasing and inventory specialist for the Maintenance Department at the St. Clair Plant. You will manage purchasing processes, place orders, and track open orders to ensure timely delivery.

The role requires strong attention to detail, MS Office proficiency, and experience with MRP/ERP systems (Maximo, SAP). An Associates degree is preferred; a HS diploma with data entry experience is acceptable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent plus three years’ data entry experience.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Maximo, SAP).

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing processes for Maintenance Department at St. Clair.
• Place orders and follow through to completion; track and reconcile open orders.
• Assist maintenance department with identifying vendors based on given request specifications.
• Coordinate vendor service activities once contracted.
• Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement through review of purchasing patterns.
• Ensure department purchasing activities align with plant and corporate policies.
• Provide reporting for purchasing activities and maintain data regarding committed inventories and purchased supplies.
• Complete monthly analysis of plant spend; identify trends and resolve discrepancies.
• Train other staff members in purchasing systems and procedures as needed.
• Organize and maintain stockroom; collect orders from shipping and receiving.
• Analyze and maintain cycle counts; collaborate with accounts payable to check payments.
• Coordinate accounts payable activities with plant resources to meet payment commitments.
