Job summary

Metallus Inc. seeks a Purchasing & Inventory Specialist for the Maintenance Department at the St. Clair Plant in Ohio. You will manage purchasing, place orders, track open orders, and coordinate vendor activities to support production.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of data entry, strong MS Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word), data analysis, and inventory management. Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems (Maximo, SAP) is a plus. Relocation is not offered.

Purpose

This position is responsible for the purchasing and inventory management activities for the Maintenance Department at the St. Clair Plant.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing processes for Maintenance Department at St. Clair.
• Place orders and follow through to completion; track and reconcile open orders.
• Assist maintenance department with identifying vendors based on given request specifications and coordinate vendor service activities once contracted.
• Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement through review of purchasing patterns.
• Ensure department purchasing activities are aligned with plant and corporate policies and procedures.
• Provide reporting for purchasing activities and maintain data regarding committed inventories and purchased supplies.
• Complete monthly analysis of plant spend; identify trends and resolve discrepancies.
• Train other staff members in purchasing systems and procedures as needed.
• Organize and maintain stockroom
• Collect orders from shipping and receiving and organize orders in stockroom
• Analyze and maintain cycle counts
• Collaborate with accounts payable to check status of payments for vendors.
• Coordinate accounts payable activities with plant and corporate resources to meet payment commitments.

Technical Skills

• Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Office Skills, specifically Excel, Outlook, and Word.

• Understanding of industrial & manufacturing terminology preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds intermittently
