Job summary

Metallus is seeking a Purchasing & Inventory Specialist for the St. Clair plant to manage purchasing for the Maintenance Department. You will place orders, track open orders, and coordinate vendor activities while ensuring alignment with applicable policies.

The role requires data entry experience, strong Microsoft Office skills, and familiarity with MRP/ERP systems such as Maximo and SAP. Physical lifting up to 35 pounds may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent plus three years’ data entry experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems (Maximo, SAP).

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing processes for Maintenance Department at St. Clair.
• Place orders and follow through to completion; track and reconcile open orders.
• Assist maintenance department with identifying vendors based on given request specifications and coordinate vendor service activities once contracted.
• Help identify opportunities for continuous improvement through review of purchasing patterns.
• Ensure department purchasing activities are aligned with plant and corporate policies and procedures.
• Provide reporting for purchasing activities and maintain data regarding committed inventories and purchased supplies.
• Complete monthly analysis of plant spend; identify trends and resolve discrepancies.
• Train other staff members in purchasing systems and procedures as needed.
• Organize and maintain stockroom
• Collect orders from shipping and receiving and organize orders in stockroom
• Analyze and maintain cycle counts
• Collaborate with accounts payable to check status of payments for vendors.
• Coordinate accounts payable activities with plant and corporate resources to meet payment commitments.
