Job summary

Suburban Enterprises is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join our employee-owned team in Wisconsin. You will support the Purchasing group with order data, inventory control, and supplier coordination to keep procurement efficient.

You will monitor orders, resolve invoice issues, and help drive accuracy across inventory and records while collaborating with Accounts Payable and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of purchasing experience and/or training.
• Familiarity with ERP and/or inventory software.
• Experience using PC, Word, Excel, and Internet.

Responsibilities

• Enter and maintain accurate order, purchasing, and inventory data in company systems.
• Process order acknowledgements and review for accuracy and completeness.
• Process inventory requests related to field and machine moves.
• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Track supplier shipments and follow up on purchase orders for timely delivery.
• Coordinate material returns and ensure timely pickup and credit processing.
• Partner with Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Assist with supplier performance evaluations.
• Maintain records and documentation for quoting projects.
• Support Purchasing team to ensure efficient operations.

The Role – Purchasing Assistant

The Purchasing Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Purchasing team by maintaining accurate purchasing records, monitoring orders, coordinating inventory transactions, resolving supplier and invoice issues. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely procurement, accurate inventory management, and effective communication between suppliers, purchasing, accounts payable, and internal stakeholders.

What You'll Do

What You Bring (Required Experience)

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• 1-3 years of purchasing experience and/or training
• Familiarity with ERP and/or inventory software
• Experience in the use of a PC and Microsoft Word and Excel software, as well as the Internet

Bonus Points For (Preferred Experience)

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field preferred
