Job summary

Suburban Enterprises is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to support the Purchasing team with accurate data, order processing, and inventory coordination. You will engage with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely procurement and smooth communication across departments.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, ERP/inventory software familiarity, and the ability to advance within a self-directed work environment.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of purchasing experience or training.
• Familiarity with ERP and/or inventory software.
• Proficient in PC use, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Enter and maintain accurate order, purchasing, and inventory data in company systems.
• Process order acknowledgements and ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor inventory requests related to field and machine moves.
• Track supplier shipments and follow up on purchase orders for timely delivery.
• Coordinate material returns and credit processing.
• Partner with Accounts Payable to investigate invoice discrepancies.
• Assist with supplier performance evaluations.
• Maintain records for quoting projects and provide needed support.

The Role – Purchasing Assistant

The Purchasing Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Purchasing team by maintaining accurate purchasing records, monitoring orders, coordinating inventory transactions, resolving supplier and invoice issues. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely procurement, accurate inventory management, and effective communication between suppliers, purchasing, accounts payable, and internal stakeholders.

What You'll Do

• Enter and maintain accurate order, purchasing, and inventory data in company systems.
• Process order acknowledgements and review to ensure accuracy and completeness.

• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records.

• Partner with Accounts Payable to investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Assist with supplier performance evaluations.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for all quoting projects.
• Support Purchasing team as needed to ensure efficient operations.

What You Bring (Required Experience)

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• 1-3 years of purchasing experience and/or training
• Familiarity with ERP and/or inventory software
• Experience in the use of a PC and Microsoft Word and Excel software, as well as the Internet

Bonus Points For (Preferred Experience)

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field preferred
