We are looking for a Purchasing Agent to join our Services_AME team in the United States.

Job Description:

The primary functions of the Purchasing Agent are to work with Operations and perform all duties related to purchasing materials for shop jobs. This includes completing standard purchasing forms such as bid requests, material requisitions, purchase orders, logs, and reports. The Purchasing Agent will also oversee inventory management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Order parts for jobs promptly, as advised by shop departments.
  • Support operations in preparing quotes and estimates by contacting vendors for pricing and availability of equipment and materials.
  • Represent the company professionally during contact with vendors, customers, or service providers.
  • Accurately complete material requisitions and purchase orders and enter them into the database.
  • Work effectively in a schedule-driven environment, managing time efficiently.
  • Manage budgets and avoid delay costs, including shipping expenses.
  • Develop vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for services and purchases as directed by the Head of Procurement.
  • Implement cost control, change control, and scheduling of materials.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts and reconcile with the ERP system.
  • Review work-in-progress reports for material needs and delivery times.
  • Expedite orders, quotes, backorders, and work scope changes.
  • Order restock items such as consumables, safety supplies, welding materials, machine tooling, A-stock items, and office supplies.
  • Pick up parts from vendors if needed.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including filing, office assistance, or supporting special projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of safety practices.
  • Skill in operating automotive and materials handling equipment.
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and objects.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with challenging tasks.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics D365 is a plus).
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
