Responsibilities

  • Control product flow by tracing lines, opening/closing valves, and operating pumps.
  • Load and unload materials from tanker trucks and railroad cars.
  • Maintain traffic operations by following shipment schedules and communicating with teams.
  • Prepare shipments with correct product, weights, and paperwork.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for cleanliness and load acceptability.
  • Document shipping/receiving logs with product, weight and time.
  • Provide railcar movement directions and assist rail operations as needed.

Salary Range: $18.85 To $23.35 Hourly

Position Description:

Perform duties to load and unload raw and finished materials via tank trucks and railcars with a Safety-minded attitude that maintains and enhances a Safety-culture for the benefit of the Company and its employees.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Control product flow by tracing lines, opening/closing valves, and operating appropriate pumps as determined by line usage or product
  • Load and unload materials from tanker trucks and railroad cars
  • Maintain traffic operations by following and adjusting shipment schedules; communicating with laboratory and sales to acquire shipping documentation; communicating with delivery personnel to verify receipt of arrivals and loading instructions
  • Prepare shipments by insuring loads contain correct product, weights, and required paperwork
  • Inspect vehicles (trucks/railcars) and equipment for cleanliness and acceptability of loads
  • Documents shipping and receiving logs by recording product, weight and arrival/shipment time
  • Provide direction to the Railroad regarding the movement of railcars in and out of the plant and assists the Railroad as needed
  • Operate the shuttle wagon or participate in ground work activities during the internal railcar switching process
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements and regulations
  • Maintain work environment by cleaning pump house and equipment; including but not limited to tanks and railcars, and other areas as assigned
  • Conduct on-the-job training of co-workers, as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Able to measure accurately in feet and inches using tape measures and rulers
  • Basic working knowledge of computers
  • Able to work variable shifts, overtime and weekends as needed
  • Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to frequently lift, up to and occasionally in excess of, 50 pounds
  • Able to tolerate extreme weather conditions; working outside
  • Able to scale tank trucks and rail cars in addition to excessive walking; stair and ladder climbing; and tolerate heights

Training Period:

  • One to three months meeting all above requirements

This is a union position and comes with benefits provided by the union, upon completion of the 90 day probationary period. Benefits include: medical, vision and dental as well as 1 week of paid time off after 1 year of employment.
