OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs service work relating to transferring rail cars from one position to another so that operations personnel can load or unload products to and from the cars. This is a fully-qualified position which works with general supervision, within established procedures. This position works a four day on and four day off schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Receive copy of yard check with morning instructions.
Weigh outbound railcars.
Respot any cars that are left.
Receive inbounds, get list with instructions on where to put cars.
Weigh cars in and spot terminal.
Certified on Switch Engine Operation.
Follow company policies and comply with company regulations. Cooperate and support colleagues.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
In case of absence, the employee’s supervisor will assume and/or assign responsibility for this position’s duties.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or equivalent
Physical ability to perform strenuous labor
Intellectual ability to learn and apply a practical knowledge of chemical products and detailed procedures
Basic mathematical ability & observation of safety rules
Recognition of the need for continued learning
Ability to accept close supervision and understand the limitations imposed to maintain an adequate margin against error
Knowledgeable of safety precaution and special handling requirements of each product
Trained in safety and emergency procedures
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Close proximity to hazardous petrochemicals
Performs physical labor
Work outside in all weather conditions with protective gear:(rubber boots and slicker) and safety equipment (facial hair restricted because of required use of respirator) when handling chemicals
Potential for exposure to hazards is present
Carry/handle heavy objects - hoses, nozzles, etc.
Lifting 20 lbs. – 50 lbs. on regular basis
Bending/stooping on regular basis
Walking/standing for long periods of time
