Job summary

City of Olathe is seeking a Pump Station Maintenance Technician I to join a dynamic public works team responsible for wastewater pump stations and related infrastructure. The role emphasizes electrical and mechanical maintenance, asset management, and on-call response to emergencies.

The technician will repair and maintain lift stations, valves, and SCADA components, while ensuring safe operations and compliance with city standards.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing and maintaining electrical systems or pumps.
• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and write at required level.
• Courses in electrical and/or pump maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs pump station electrical components; performs preventative and breakdown maintenance on lift stations; operates and maintains wastewater infrastructure.
• Operates various equipment including trucks, excavators, CCTV equipment, and pumps; participates in housekeeping, grounds and building maintenance.
• Participates in city-wide snow removal efforts using snowplows; performs on-call duties including first response to pump station failures and wastewater emergencies.
• Works with City staff and external customers to resolve equipment-related issues; provides feedback and updates to management.
• Provides guidance and training to department staff on equipment operation and responsibilities.
