Job description

Position Summary:

Duties and Responsibilities: Utilizes various types of manual and numerically controlled machine shop equipment (i.e., Milling, Engine Lathes, CNC Lathes, Honing, etc.) to perform machining operations on materials including, but not limited to steel, stainless steel, cast iron, bronze, and plastics. Intermediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gauges, bore gauges and indicators. Intermediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions. Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines. Experience with Deepwell vertical barge pumps preferred.

Must be able to:

1. Follow written and oral instructions, communicate in English (both written & oral) as it relates to the job.
2. Be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands, frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
3. Be willing and able to work extended hours, as necessary.
4. Possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication.
5. Lift 35 lbs.

Responsibilities & Duties:

1. Responsible for quality parts produced on manual machine.
2. Studying and interpreting drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
3. Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality or production.
4. Reports all machine malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
5. Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly.
6. Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, Company policies, and Safety and Environmental Regulations.
7. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED. Minimum of 2 years of experience operating manual machines.
