Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support providers and nursing staff in delivering timely patient care on a day shift in downtown St. Paul. The role involves rooming patients, managing flow, and assisting with exams and procedures.

Eligible external candidates may receive a $2,000 starting bonus. 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two weeks), Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Some travel to outreach locations may be required. Parking is available at reduced rates.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare education program with clinical training.
• Candidates with fewer than six (6) months of Medical Assistant experience must have completed a minimum of 160 hours of clinical externship or equivalent clinical practicum.
• High school diploma or GED; Medical Terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, manages patient flow and obtains adequate patient medical information/data.
• Collects and confirms patient information via interview, questionnaires, vital signs and documents in EMR.
• Assists patients to prepare for physician exam, provides psycho-emotional support.
• Assists with collection, labeling and processing of specimens; obtains lab/imaging results.
• Works with EMR basket; may help cover front desk and patient registration/scheduling.
• Performs injections and assists with procedures.
• Reinforces patient information regarding tests, labs, and treatment plans.
