Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital is seeking a Pulmonary Function Technologist for a per diem daytime role in the PFT laboratory. The position performs spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion tests, and arterial sampling, ensuring equipment readiness and quality control.

Requirements include an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy, NY licensure as a Respiratory Therapist, and BCLS certification, with at least 1 year of relevant testing experience. RPFT/CPFT is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy is required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by The University of the State of New York, Education Dept is required.
• 1 year experience in spirometry testing, lung volume testing, diffusion capacity testing, six minute walk testing, and arterial blood sampling and analysis is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary function tests including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, airway resistance, thoracic gas volume, respiratory muscle strength, and arterial puncture testing.
• Prepare and verify laboratory equipment for use and maintain cleanliness and readiness.
• Collect and evaluate clinical data and perform quality control checks to uphold high standards.
