Job summary

NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital is seeking a Pulmonary Function Technologist for the Per Diem - Days shift. The lab performs spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, and arterial puncture testing with state-of-the-art equipment.

Responsibilities include preparing and validating equipment, collecting data, and ensuring quality control to meet high standards. Candidate must have an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy, NY-licensed RT, BCLS certification, and about 1 year of

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist by NY Education Dept.
• 1 year experience in spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, six minute walk testing, and arterial blood sampling/analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform pulmonary function tests including spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, airway resistance, thoracic gas volume, respiratory muscle strength, and arterial puncture testing.
• Prepare equipment by selecting, assembling and verifying functionality and cleanliness.
• Collect and evaluate clinical data, while performing and evaluating quality control data.
• Maintain high standards and adhere to lab procedures and safety guidelines.

Bring your passion and professionalism to the Lower Manhattan Hospital Pulmonary Function Testing Laboratory where we offer the latest technologies and equipment. Our team performs a variety of pulmonary function tests including, spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, airway resistance, thoracic gas volume, respiratory muscle strength, and arterial puncture testing. Ensure equipment is prepared for use by selecting, assembling, and verifying functionality and cleanliness. Collect and evaluate clinical data, while performing and evaluating quality control data. Hold our practices to the highest standards.

This is a per diem position, Monday-Friday from 8:00AM -4:00PM. No Weekends or holidays in the The PFT lab. Cross training opportunities too. It is in the Lower Manhattan Hospital Wellness Center on 170 William Street.

Requirement of 2 shifts per month

Required Criteria

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
• Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by The University of the State of New York, Education Dept
• 1 year experience in spirometry testing, lung volume testing, diffusion capacity testing, six minute walk testing, and arterial blood sampling and analysis

Preferred Criteria

• Registered/Certified Pulmonary Technologist by the National Board of Respiratory Care ( RPFT/CPFT)

Location and Travel Requirements

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.
