The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, TX invites applications for the Puentes: A Cultural Wealth for Student Success Graduate Assistant position. The role supports research on culturally sustaining pedagogy and student services, coordinating student partners, and survey evaluation.

Preferred candidates are fluent in Spanish with community outreach experience. The appointment is nine months with a stipend and partial FTE, under the Division Provost - Academic Affairs.

Scope of Job

Conducting research and analyzing data on topics of Culturally sustaining pedagogy, ethnic studies, parent engagement and culturally responsive student services within the university.

• Conducting research and analyzing data on best teaching and learning practices and university resources related to culturally sustaining approaches and students’ cultural wealth.
• Coordinating meetings with and mentoring student partners through SaLT HSI
• Developing short surveys and evaluating responses to surveys and interviews
• Collaborating with supervisor to coordinate with chairs and student partners across the four collaboratives on the grant about progress and needs towards the goals of each area.
• Performing general office duties, such as answering the phone, creating calendar invites, Zoom and Teams invites, and responding to emails.
