Job summary

The American Chemical Society is seeking a Publishing Ethics Analyst to join the Publishing Intelligence and Analytics team in Washington, DC. You will manage ethics cases and support editors, reviewers, and staff across a global community.

Hybrid schedule with two onsite days per week; relocation assistance available. The role emphasizes data-driven ethics oversight, documentation, and development of tools to identify and address unethical behavior in the publishing workflow.

Qualifications

  • Experience in research or publication ethics preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with neutral tone.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy with a global community.
  • Demonstrated project-management and strategic thinking ability.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical judgment.
  • Broad scientific literacy across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ethics case management, delivering clear, neutral guidance to editors and ACS staff.
  • Assist with vendor support for ethics case management.
  • Learn metadata-driven screening of manuscript submissions and peer-review activity.
  • Develop documentation and resources to support editorial teams’ handling of ethics cases.
  • Help monitor and develop tools to address unethical behavior within the publishing process.
