Job summary

The role involves acting as Project Engineer on state and federally funded projects, presenting findings, and coordinating with inspectors, contractors, and consultants. Civil engineering expertise and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Six years of progressively responsible engineering experience, two in supervisory/management roles.
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Michigan or ability to obtain within twelve months.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate professional engineering staff; plan work and provide training.
• Oversee design and management of capital projects; monitor budgets, costs, and schedules.
• Oversee construction projects; review bids, documents, and wage compliance.
• Prepare engineering reports and annual budgets for streets O&M and capital projects.
• Act as Project Engineer for state/federal funded street projects; ensure compliance with regulations.
• Communicate with City Manager and City Commission on contracts and changes.
• Participate in special projects and develop guidelines for the city.
