Job summary

The City of Oviedo is seeking a skilled Public Works Construction Coordinator to oversee city construction projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and conformance with plans, specs, and regulations. Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in engineering, infrastructure inspection, construction, or related works.
• Associate’s degree in construction and/or Civil Engineering Technology or similar degree.
• Must have a current Intermediate MOT Certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Completion of FDOT courses in contract plans reading, earthwork inspection, sub grade inspection, base inspection, construction math, pipe placement, structures inspection I and II and asphaltic concrete testing as determined necessary during the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the management of complex construction projects and activities, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, ordinances, rules, regulations, and standards.
• Manages and leads project management activities of minor construction projects and activities including ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, ordinances, rules, regulations, and standards.
• Assists in the administration of contracts for City projects with contractors, consultants, and suppliers, as applicable, during the construction of City projects.
• Provides budget oversight for construction projects; reviews pay applications from the contractor for tasks, phases, and project closeouts.
• Meets and communicates with residents to address project activities.
• Prepares informational notices and bulletins updating the public on upcoming City projects, status updates on active projects, alerts, and roadway bulletins.
