Job summary

City Of Nogales is seeking a Purchasing/Inventory Clerk to support the Public Works Department. Responsibilities include receiving merchandise, entering requisitions and work orders, obtaining quotes, and maintaining warehouse inventory.

You will track requisitions and PO status, verify invoices, assist with vendor communications, and help prepare files for auctions. This role requires attention to detail, ability to follow safety rules, and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Receives supervision and direction from the Public Works Director, Fleet Manager, or designee.
• Receives merchandise and dispatches it to various Public Works departments.
• Requests approvals for requisitions from department directors.
• Enters requisitions and work orders.
• Obtains quotes for large purchase amounts for Public Works.
• Performs inventory control for the City warehouse.
• Requests information on new vendors.
• Prepares property and equipment for City auction.
• Ensures safety rules and regulations are followed.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the warehouse.
• Prepares, maintains and reviews purchasing files, reports and price lists.
• Corresponds with vendors to obtain and compare prices in order to make comprehensive purchasing decisions.
• Tracks the status of requisitions, purchases orders, and goods ordered and received.
• Checks shipments when they arrive to ensure that orders have been filled correctly.
• Checks invoices for accuracy and authorizes accounts payable to issue payment.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
