Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking an experienced manager for the Public Works Operations Division. You will oversee staff, budgets, contracts, and warehouse functions, coordinating with internal divisions and external vendors to ensure safe and timely roadway and stormwater maintenance.

Responsibilities include planning work plans, managing cost estimates, and leading PTTP HR activities while ensuring project milestones and safety standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree or equivalent with experience in public works or related fields.
• Experience supervising staff, managing budgets and contracts.
• Knowledge of civil engineering concepts and construction/maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Plans and supervises staff in public works operations and warehouse activities.
• Oversees division contracts, vendor agreements, and procurement processes.
• Administers staff training programs and HR activities related to PTTP and staffing.
• Prepares cost estimates, requisitions and material specifications for division needs.
• Manages division reporting, budgeting, and performance metrics.
• Directs field operations planning, scheduling, and progress reporting.
• Coordinates with other City divisions and external partners for project delivery.
• Responds to emergencies and oversees safety and compliance in projects.
