Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a strategic leader to direct water, wastewater, and stormwater operations. You will oversee treatment, distribution, and environmental services, guiding a team of managers and professionals to deliver on capital improvements and regulatory commitments.

Applicants should have a strong background in civil/environmental engineering and extensive management experience in water resources, with proven budgeting and stakeholder engagement skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Business, Accounting or related field.
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or Public Administration is desirable.
• Ten to fifteen years water and wastewater services experience, including seven in a management capacity.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises Water Resources Division managers and staff.
• Oversees the development of multiple complex projects and capital improvement planning.
• Directs and coordinates with assigned managers in daily operations prioritization.
• Manages budgets, approves expenditures, requisitions and invoices.
• Represents the Department with regulators, customers, City Departments, consultants, and elected officials.
• Coordinates with State and Federal agencies on water resources issues.
• Attends Council meetings, committee meetings and public meetings as required.
