Job summary

The City of Gainesville, GA seeks a Strategic Utility Leader to plan and direct water, wastewater, and stormwater operations. This senior role oversees treatment, distribution, collection, and environmental services, manages budgets and capital plans, and represents the department with regulators and officials.

Lead cross-functional teams, build stakeholder relationships, and drive on-time, on-budget outcomes while guiding staff development and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Business, Accounting or related field.
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Accounting or Public Administration desirable.
• Ten to fifteen years water and wastewater experience, including seven in a management capacity.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.
• Licenses: Professional Engineer Certification desirable; Class I Water Operator desirable; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct operations of water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities.
• Supervise day-to-day operations of treatment, distribution, collection, and environmental services.
• Manage budgets, contracts, and capital improvement plans with staff and stakeholders.
• Represent the Department with regulators, customers, other City Departments, consultants, and elected officials.
• Develop strategic vision and ensure projects meet milestones on time and within budget.
