Job summary

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking a full-time Mechanic to support the Engineering & Public Works - Fleet division. The position offers a competitive hourly salary of $21.83–$23.63, with extensive health, retirement, and wellness benefits.

Qualifications

• ASE Preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three (3) years related experience and/or training preferred.
• Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Regular and timely attendance at work.
• Must be able to work around the clock, when on call schedule.
• Plan work procedure in consultation with Lead Mechanic.
• Perform mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot to localize defects and determine cause of malfunction.
• Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.
• Overhauls or replaces fueling systems, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps.
• Replaces and adjusts headlights, and installs and repairs accessories such as radios, heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.
• Change oil; grease fittings; change air, fuel and oil filters.
• Rotate tires as needed.
• Inspect vehicle/equipment and report any possible problems for wear.
• Raise vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.
• Repair A/C, engine, brakes, driveline, and equipment as needed.
• Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
