Job summary

The City of Ukiah is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of semi-skilled duties in construction and maintenance of city streets, sidewalks, and storm drains. This role requires one year of general construction experience and a valid Class A CA driver’s license or ability to obtain within six months.

Residency within six months and willingness to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends, are expected.

Qualifications

• One year of general construction and road maintenance experience.
• Possession of a valid Class A California Driver's License or ability to obtain within six months.
• Tanker Endorsement desirable.
• Residency requirement within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform street and storm drain maintenance and construction duties in a variety of skill areas.
• Prepare surfaces for paving.
• Break up paved surfaces.
• Assist in digging, widening, and backfilling trenches and other excavations.
• Load, transport, and unload pipe, gravel, asphalt, and other materials and equipment.
• Paint traffic lines; install street signs, and other miscellaneous fixtures.
• Operate power-driven street construction and repair equipment.
• May operate heavy equipment on a training or relief basis.
• Keep tools and equipment in clean and safe working condition.
• Take night, weekend and holiday standby duty on a rotational basis with other Department employees.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
