Qualifications

• Knowledge of materials, equipment and tools used in road/street maintenance.
• Knowledge of operating characteristics of heavy and specialized equipment.
• Ability to perform laboring and semi-skilled tasks in operation, maintenance and repair of streets/roadways and public works equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions.
• Ability to perform mechanical work.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to minimize risk and ensure safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Builds and sets forms for concrete for curbs, gutters and sidewalks; mixes and pours concrete and other materials.
• Spreads and levels earth and materials using public works vehicles and tools.
• Cleans and repairs catch basins, manholes, culverts and storm drains; uses equipment and tools.
• Operates and maintains public works equipment; assists in repair of municipal vehicles.
• Trims and removes trees and brush; rakes leaves and hazards.
• Removes snow from streets and city facilities; applies anti-icing materials.
• Drives trucks to transport materials; loads with mechanical loader.
• Erects barricades and maintains traffic signs; assists in flood control and emergencies.
• Performs related work as required.
