Job summary

The City of Baltimore is hiring a Public Works Inspector II to perform on-site inspections of highways, streets, bridges, and water/sewer facilities. The role requires inspecting contractors’ work to ensure compliance with all codes and specifications, with occasional evening/weekend hours and outdoor work.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and four years of related inspection experience, plus a valid Maryland Class C license. Training and credentials are provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
• Four years of experience in performing construction inspection work in highways, streets, bridges or water and sewer facilities.
• Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or equivalent, and eligibility to obtain Baltimore City driver’s permit.
• Note: Provisional driver’s license or learner permits are not acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect on-site construction to ensure compliance with specifications, standards and codes.
• Maintain daily inspection logs and complete routine forms/reports.
• Coordinate with contractors and communicate findings effectively.
• Work outdoors at construction sites and comply with safety requirements.
