Job summary

Baltimore City Government seeks a Public Works Inspector III to inspect highway, street, bridge, water and wastewater facilities, and to oversee subordinate inspectors. Outdoor work exposes you to construction sites, weather, dust, and traffic; some evenings or weekends may be required.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, five years of construction inspection experience, and a valid Maryland driver's license.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
• Experience: Have five years of experience in performing construction inspection work in one of the following areas: highways, streets, bridges or water and sewer systems facilities.
• Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license.
• PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
• NOTE: YOU MUST UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH APPLICATION AT TIME OF APPLYING.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, reviews and directs work of subordinate inspectors in inspecting highways, streets, bridges and water/wastewater facilities.
• Ensures compliance with city construction specifications, standards and codes.
• Maintains daily logs and complete forms and reports.
• Interacts with contractors and other city staff to ensure project quality and safety.
