Job summary

Richland County Government in South Carolina seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to work across Public Works projects, operating dump trucks, excavators, dozers, and other machinery to maintain county roads.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and operates heavy machinery including dump trucks, excavators, dozers, skid steers, and backhoes for public works.
• Operates Class A trucks and trailers as part of road maintenance tasks.
• Assists with road and concrete construction and maintenance, including paving and drivways repairs.
• Assists with digging ditches and placement of underground pipes.
• Performs daily inspections and field checks on projects.
• Delivers gravel and other materials to work sites.
• Operates lawn maintenance equipment to keep sidewalks and roadways clear.
• Assists with debris removal from various locations countywide.
• Monitors equipment condition and performs preventive maintenance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
